About
Temper was an independent publishing group that crafted art books from artists across photography and film. It ran from 2020 to 2022. Artists paid no service or production costs — a first for an art book imprint to offer — while also receiving royalties.

Tenets
Small runs. Minimal design. A close, in-house collaboration with artists from start to finish. Experience art beyond a screen. Finally: give back.

Prints
Select titles offered optional prints for purchase. Every artist chose sizes, substrates, and finishes specific to their artwork. Please refer to product pages for further information.

Shipping
Free shipping was offered to U.S. customers, with discounted shipping to international customers. All items shipped insured with a tracking number from the United States via USPS. Books were shipped via Media Mail, prints via First-Class Mail, and non-U.S. deliveries via First-Class International.

International notice
Non-U.S. deliveries had additional import customs VAT or processing fees owed upon arrival, with costs varying depending on the final destination.

Delivery issues
Books and prints were shipped in custom product-specific packaging to lower the risk of damage. Customers could get in touch with us if they encountered an issue.

Why did it end?
Temper began as a personal lockdown project that rapidly grew, eventually offering an education fund, and went from one title to four. Ultimately, Covid-related issues such as material shortages, increased production costs, supply chain logistics, and the global shipping crisis made producing future titles unfeasible. It was an exciting time — all thanks to you and your support.
